Create tornado tubes and clouds in a bottle when you bring the outside into the classroom with ideas and connections between weather and your classroom! Make your students storm chasers with a visit from the National Weather Service headquarters. Workshop is from 5pm-7pm. Blood Drive

Give Blood. Save a Life! The need for blood affects us all. Nine out of ten of us will need blood some time in our lives. And one out of every ten hospital patients requires a transfusion. Come over to the Garden State Discovery Museum to help out on a good cause that will touch many lives! We will be having more than just a Blood Drive… There will be a “mock” blood drive for children to see what their parents and guardians are “going through!” Buddy Blood Drop will be here to meet and greet everyone! Donors will receive passes to the Museum and a special discount in the Discovermore Store! Staff will be on hand to help watch the kids while you donate! Celebrate the Year of the Tiger, family style! The Museum helps close out the Year of the Ox with a visit from the Jade River Dancers; performance at 1:30PM. Also, instructors and students from MacKenzie’s Karate, with locations throughout South Jersey, will also be on hand to do interactive karate demonstrations/workshops at Noon & 3:00 PM. These Museum favorites will show off traditional song and dance from the Asian community. Children will also have the opportunity to create works of art with Chinese calligraphy and make decorative paper lanterns.

Caribbean Carnival

Purim is the most festive of Jewish holidays, a time of prizes, noisemakers, costumes and food and drink! The Museum will celebrate with crafts and music, dress-up and improvisational storytelling, kid-friendly punch and hamantashen. Sunday’s festivities will be hosted by the fabulous Rosie Hymerling.
