Girl Scout Overnights at the

Garden State Discovery Museum!

What?

Girl Scout Overnights are a unique way to complete workshops for specific Try-Its, play in the museum, and experience a "Camp-In" in an exciting environment! Girls will be given a chance to complete four activities to earn their Art to Wear Try-It with their troop as well as explore and play in the Museum. A snack will be provided and story or music time will be held in the Theater before bedtime. The following morning the Museum's Discovermore Toy Store will be open! To sign-up for an Overnight, please contact your local Girl Scout Council. If your Council has not booked an overnight with us, let them know they should! Let us know if they haven't! We will try to set one up for you as soon as possible. However, if your Council is not hosting an Overnight and you and any other troops would like to sign up for your own Camp-In (50 person minimum required), please contact Paul at (856) 424.1233 x 312.

When?

Overnights are scheduled for one Friday a month beginning at 7:30 PM and ending at 8:00 AM the following Saturday.

The 2010/2011 dates will be announced shortly!

Where?

The Garden State Discovery Museum

2040 Springdale Rd.

Cherry Hill, NJ 08003

Camp sites are assigned throughout exhibits on the Museum floor.

Why?

You’ll participate in four different workshops, including mask-making & improvisational skits/games, to earn your “Let’s Pretend” badge, and it’s tons of fun!

How?

Cost is $35 per girl and $20 per adult, and a ratio of 1 adult per 5 girls is required.  A minimum of 50 people is needed for the overnight to run with the maximum number of people at 100. If your council is able to reach that minimum at the time of booking, we can consider adding a date that works for all parties involved.

Please call Paul McElwee, Educational Programs Coordinator, at 856-424-1233 ext.312 for more information or to book your overnight.

Girl Scout Try-It Workshops

Not quite ready (or up for) a Museum Overnight? Then have we got the perfect solution for you! Try-It Workshops! The Try-It Workshops will enable Girl Scouts to complete activities at the Garden State Discovery Museum in which they get the chance to experience programming that may not be readily available to them outside of the museum, and to have playtime in the Museum. We have created weekday and weekend programs to accommodate busy schedules. Troop Leaders will then be supplied with suggested activities and sample projects to complete on their own to fulfill the specific Try-It requirements.
